Hydropower station

There are four hydropower stations in Tammerkoski. The three uppermost power stations are owned by the city of Tampere, while the lowest powerstation belongs to Tako paperboard mill. The hydropower station in the picture is located in the midway in Tammerkoski and it's one of the most important landmarks of Tampere. This water power station provides 8 MW, it was built in 1932 and the station building was designed by architect Bertel Strömmer. He also designed Hotel Tammer, the red building on the left hand side, which is one of Finland's oldest operating hotels (opened in 1929).
