Bedtime reading

Although she's getting better about reading, my daughter still prefers to have picture books read to her at bedtime, despite our best efforts to read longer "chapter books". This evening my husband tried to get her interested in one of my favourite books from my childhood - The Weirdstone of Brisingamen. He didn't realise this book is really aimed at older kids, and ploughed all the way through the prologue before giving up.

I'm sure she'll start enjoying chapter books soon. But perhaps not this one to start with!
