Weekend work

This is Eric, checking which valves are letting through while they are closed.
These are electrically controlled valves at the back of the boiler.
Their purpose is to open and drain the superheaters and reheater when the unit starts up.
During standstill the steam condenses in the superheaters and when they are not drained the water can cause great damage to the superheaters when the boiler is heating up again during the start of the unit.
The water is then pushed forward by the newly formed steam which is accompanied by tremendous bangs, and all the pipes are then shaking in a frightening way.
Now we noticed that some drainpipes stay hot so some valves are letting through.
The connectionpipe which leads to the blow down tank is also leaking so water is coming down at a place we don't want it.
This weekend the unit stops and this will be repaired.
The defective valves are fixed and the connectionpipe will be welded.
