High Tide and Green Grass

To the river Dee at Parkgate for the spring tide. Thousands of waders (including hundreds of lapwing as shown in this picture) are put up by the advancing water and by raptors- peregrine, hen harrier and short eared owl- and the tide's final push to the road sends voles and water rail rushing for dry land. Sky larks are to be seen going against the general flow of traffic, moving from the fields to sit on floating islands of flotsam to peck at seeds. The tide is 10.2 metres. Some volume of water.
