"Grief is not forever but love is"

On the Water of Leith walkway, opposite the staircase leading up to the National Gallery of Modern Art, is the moving 'Life Tribute' Edinburgh AIDS Memorial installed in 2004. The memorial consists of a stone slab reading "Grief is not forever but love is", along with a black, metal, bench with the red ribbon emblem on the back.
Although I have never personally known anyone to have died from this horrific disease, I know many who now live with it. It is now over 30 years since the first cases of HIV/AIDS were detected and the journey to finding a cure has been quite incredible. However, with the disease still causing havoc around the world I feel we are still very much in the winter stages of eradicating it for good.
