Clearing the cobwebs

This is the beach at Seaham in County Durham.

The beaches in this area used to be called the Black Beaches because of all the coal on them.  However, since the death of the mining industry in the area, they've cleaned them up and they're beautiful.

We went to a family party last night in nearby Sunderland, but stayed at an inn in Seaham.  We even had a sea view from our room.  I have always loved the beaches here, so this morning, to clear the cobwebs from last night, we took a stroll along the sand and the pebbles.

The wind was bracing.  To the north, the sky was blue with white clouds scudding across.  To the south, the sky was dark with heavy clouds.  To the south west, the sun was blazing.

We discovered that if you stamp repeatedly on water-logged sand, it forms a non-Newtonian-fluid puddle, which you can easily sink into if you're not careful.

We saw lots of interesting rock formations and pebbles on the beach, and lots of people with dogs.
