Saltwater Baths…….

………… Motueka, NZ

- First built in 1938
- Improvements made in 1952
- In 1991 work started to rebuild the pool

By 1992 the baths had deteriorated badly so once more a committee was formed to upgrade the whole area. A concrete floor was added to the baths with steps at both ends and a paddling pool was included. A floodgate, childproof gates in the fence around the pool, decking on the shore side and a walkway to the beach were also added. In the domain itself a new unit containing changing rooms and toilets was built to replace the old facilities and night lighting was installed.

Today is Nelson Anniversary Day
- Commemorates the arrival of the first new Zealand Company boat, the Fifeshire on 1 February, 1842.
- The first Nelson Anniversary celebration was held on February 1, 1843

SUMMER ENJOYMENT
This beach is less than a five minute drive from my home.
Today is a public holiday in Nelson and with a king tide near mid-day, my husband and I enjoyed swimming in these beautiful waters near the saltwater baths.
