Dung Beetle

This fellow was wondering across the food hall as we had breakfast this morning and quite calmly put up with my sticking my camera in his rather large face to take this photo.

Today we regrettably left the Amazon. It was a regret to leave the wildlife, the beauty and the sanctuary but not as regrettable to leave the heat and the humidity. We did get to spot the family of monkeys that live near the retreat one last time but soon we were walking back to the boat and where on our way.

We had a rather long wait at the small airport in which time the rainforest showed us why it's named such throwing down wild winds and torrential rain, all of which we were lucky to have avoided while we were there.

Eventually our plane came and we boarded our five hour flight back to Lima, where we would spend one final night before leaving Peru and heading to Argentina.
