Tulips

I'd been looking forward to taking this picture all day but then when I got home couldn't find anywhere with enough light. I managed to find a 'good enough' place but still ended up using the flash.

I really like tulip flowers but I'm not so keen on the way the stalks curve and twist like snakes. I thought that only happened with the cut flowers. I've heard that a pin stuck through the stalk under the flower head prevents this but, not realising that this was going to happen, I obviously left it too late.
