Dune Erosion

Spring tides, low atmospheric pressure and strong winds have taken their toll this week. I have only been walking on this beach for the past three months and it is shocking how much of the sand dunes have been eroded in that short time. The water has reach ever further up the beach and the fragile sand is simply being washed away. The marram grass does its best to bind the sand together, but is no match for the relentless waves. All that is left is roots sticking up where once a dune stood proud, its remains looking sorry in the background.

I hope the strong winds that have played their part in the destruction change direction and recreate these wonderful dunes.
