Sunbird

This bird was feeding on the flowers just by our balcony. We’re pretty certain it is a Sunbird of some kind, but we’re not sure exactly which one. Unfortunately it’s a female and therefore does not have the showy colours of the males, which would make identification easier.

Sunbirds are mainly African and, unlike American Hummingbirds, do not hover to get nectar. This one was standing on the stems or the flowers themselves and going from one flower to another very quickly. If you look large, you can see pollen on its beak.
