Last piece standing

The piece of wall with the graffiti is the last piece of Pontins left standing. I can understand leaving the boundary wall in place with the barbed wire. But why this section? The speculation is that the builder somehow intends to incorporate this piece into the new estate as a lasting reminder of the sites origins.
