Thames meets Twickenham

A bit of a heavy evening last night - alcohol wise. Self inflicted. We foolishly sat in the hotel bar attending to their supply of scotch.

Combined with the usual first night away in a strange bed causing disturbed sleep, it was a bit heavy this morning. Having been awake for some time I got up and went a walk down by the river Thames before the breakfast meeting started. Much of the parl opposite was under more water than last night. The river had clearly come over the bank during the night but was receding a little by 8am. even so, ducks were simply swimming out of the river and into the park.

I walked further up into Twickenham and again back down to the river. There's much street works being done at the moment, so there is building equipment and detritus everywhere. This was taken from the bridge over to Eel Pie Island (what a great name!). The river was running at a torrent within half an inch of the top of the wall. The other side of the wall was still a lake amongst all the rubble.

Soon it was time to wander back for a full english and another meeting to round off yesterdays team meeting. We watched the traffic dealing with the tube-strike (or maybe it's that bad there everyday). Thankfully it had cleared in time for us to return up north.
