Melbourne Cup Lunch

Here in Australia the Melbourne Cup is known as the race that stops the nation. The 3200 metre horse race is Australias excuse to have some champagne, and a bet on the ponies.

As usual I lost.

On the upside, my employers bought beer, wine, champagne and a mountain of Chinese food. We all sat down for an extended lunch hour and watched the race on TV. I had great fun and didn't overdo it on the booze even though I caught the train to work.

It is very nice to work for and with people who are generous enough to lay on a spread like this.

The food was good the beer was cold and the converstion was excellent. My choice of horse was woeful!
