Allons-y! fiber arts

By Bethanne

Project Silk Noil

Silk noils are the shorter silk fibers from the pupa and used for adding into other spinning fibers or spun up on their own. They are quite popular with art yarn spinners. These have soaked in a cold mordant for 4 days and are now being dyed with natural dyes. The one color missing from the photo is a buttery yellow. When these are dyed and dried they will be fluffed together to make a soft and rich colorful silk cloud of fiber.
