The beholder's eye

Minute!

Really not the best picture I have taken, but to be honest it is a miracle I got anything usable at all as the light was so foul (almost dark and I had to use the pop up flash) and this little grain weevil - Sitophilus granarius was so tiny ~ 3mm I had to use the largest extension tube just to see it!!
Grain, granary or wheat weevils occur all over the world, and in many places can be a serious pest.
When they are threatened they fold their legs close to their body and feign death. It is estimated that one pair of weevils can be responsible for 6,000 offspring in a year!!
Lets hope this little fella can't find a mate!!
