Chinese warrior lanterns (1)

Blippers in Edinburgh will probably have seen umpteen blips of this exhibition in the quad of Old College of Edinburgh University - but I didn't let that put me off blipping it myself!

I particularly wanted to include the horse - and you can also see two out of three of the family, who comprise father, pregnant mother and child, to the right of the horse. You can see the heads of these figures, unlike most of the soldiers, who look rather headless in this photo - although you can see their heads if you are viewing the exhibition.

The lanterns are inspired by the army of terracotta soldiers, discovered in 1974 when the tomb of the 3rd Century BC First Chinese Emperor Qin Shi Huang was unearthed in the Xi’an province of China. There's more about the exhibition here.

The exhibition is timed to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

And I give you notice that tomorrow's blip will be of this exhibition too!
