I heard the corellas in their giant flock of hundreds and ran down the road with my camera. Maybe the pattern of the activity that is so fascinating is their shuffle-flutter-squawk squawk-swarm and rising in a great crowd of hundreds they execute a caterwauling circle from their perches. Some remain initially and groups circle and return and go until they are all gone from that tree. Very like sunset if you are not there in the minutes when time ticks down and nature changes its shapes and form in the presence of the last rays of a strong sun, the birds mysteriously go through these motions in a matter of seconds. My mind has turned to wondering if their behaviour is play. Do they celebrate the beauty of these tall eucalyptus trees they have to love, birth and die in. Are they dancing to their community.

On another day of the week I will try again to capture the flock as it rises in the air out of the trees into the glare of hot air squawling, screaming against the blue of their hot summer sky. Some of the participants seem to free fall and spin in the air when photographed. The conditions are predicted to remain hot over the coming days. A mood photo of the photos I took is my choice.
