Blipping Bertie

You might remember we Blipped about 100-year-old Bertie Hutchison, who worked in the Greenock Sugar Sheds in the 1930s.
The Greenock Telegraph reporter was kind enough to pass on Bertie's granddaughter' Roxanne's details to Absent Voices artist, Anne Mckay, so she got in touch with the family and arranged to meet them all.
Annie went to visit him yesterday and Blipped about it HERE.
As you can seen, she is very excited about meeting Bertie, who sounds like a really lovely man.
Bertie worked in the sugar sheds in the 1930s and although he is frail, he is in good fettle and has a lot of memories to share.
She took sugar-related goodies along, including a print of one of her charcoal drawings of the sugar sheds and Bertie was clearly delighted.
Once-might industries were made up of a community of people like Bertie.
It's their story that Absent Voices is aiming to tell.
