West Voe

Another surprising day of Shetland weather. Warm (at least by Shetland standards) and almost windless (by anyone's standards*).

Walked on West Voe for the first time on this visit - there was lots of damage done to the dunes at West Voe in the storms recently. The huge amount of sand dumped on the road behind the dunes was cleared a few days ago, and there is now a bank of concrete block-matting where there used to be sand dunes on the back of the beach.

The beach has a somewhat surreal look with exposed seaweed stems at the west end (which took the battering from the southeasterlies) and huge mounds of rotting seaweed at the more sheltered east end.

*windless on Shetland - means that you can open the car door without it getting ripped out of your hand.
