Chateau de Paracols

Today's walk took us to the ruins of the feudal castle above Molitg les Bains. It is a 12th century building perched high above the Castellane valley in a ridiculously romantic spot. It is small and overgrown and supposedly haunted after the Lord of the Manor impregnated a beautiful girl, married, then neglected her. The girl died in great pain. The son and grandmother, a seer, disappeared but returned on the occasion of the nuptials of the Lord and his second wife. She produced the Lord's son from under her cloak and predicted dire outcomes that eventually came to pass. The ghost of the beautiful girl supposedly wanders the cliffs, arms raised moving slowly and mysteriously.
