Skipton from Greatwood

Spent the afternoon on the Greatwood estate in South Skipton. I've been taking pictures for a project called Let's Talk which aims to use film and photography to get people talking about where they live.

I like this picture possibly for what it doesn't contain - just roof tops, chimney pots and a few back windows. Something about the way the the houses are stacked up which tells you something about the hilly landscape.

The format of the picture is square which I'm increasingly liking. In the film and TV world there has been a trend towards wider and wider screens but there's something strong about a square image - a tension you don't get otherwise.
