Day Twenty-Six.

Another day in Vientaine. Yesterday Skye and I rode bikes around the city so today we decided to go out on foot. Vientiane is probably the smallest capital city I have ever been to. We got lost today trying to find the national museum which involved walking twenty minutes in the wrong direction.

Amongst all the wats and places we visited today, the first place stuck in my mind. Sisaket is a museum and a wat (temple). Lining the perimeter around the wat is walls lined with Buddhas of varying sizes. Behind this gate was piles of broken Buddhas with a sign that read: "These broken pieces of the Buddha statues. They were destroyed by the war. These broken statues were found under ground during excavation in the Vientiane city."
