Two Questions

I've been trying to find answers to these two questions for a very long time... maybe one of you can help me..

First of all, I'm not a Buddhist. But my mom is. My dad was a catholic. I believe in what I see, but my mind doesn't want to let go of the belief in God.

Question 01 - Re Birth of Humans

According to Buddhism, rebirth is a natural thing that happens to every human being. Our next birth is deteremind by the actions of this life. Therefore at the time of our death, our life will be judged and a new life will be chosen accordingly. If we have done good, then we will have a better life in the next birth & vice versa. Does this not show a level of control where we are measured & judged? Who is doing this? (My intention is not to bring God into the equation, but to understand Buddhism. So no offence to all the Buddhists out there)

Or is it the sub consious that control this & decides to which body we would go next? But then in Buddhism it says that we would be held accountable for our actions, several births before as well. Does this mean that there's a part in our sub concious that remembers all our previous births?

If not then the entire process would go crazy where good people having bad rebirths and vice versa.

Question 02 - The Beginning

If the end goal of the Buddists is to not be born again, then their goal is to destroy their sub consious (or what ever we call it in different cultures & religions). If the sub concious has an end, then there should be a beginning. Then how was this sub concious born? Was it created by some other factor or did it evolve from something primitive?

The only answer that I have at the moment is about how the Universe began. The Big bang theory. This can be proved with the Expanding Universe theory where Edwin Hubble showed to the world how galaxies are moving away from each other. This is accurate since we can see how we can put all the continents together in the world map & make one land mass. It used to be together & now because of the expanding universe, they move away from each other. I think this is one of the main resons why we humans are mortal. The human body can't survive the expansion for more than 70 - 80 years. Then we can understand that the universe was at one single point at a given time & it had expanded to what it is today.

Then we come to the same question. How did this big bang happen? what was there before the big bang? Even if we bring God into the equation, the same questions prevail? Did God create the Universe? Then what did he do before creating the Universe?

These may sound like fools errands to many, but just stop for a while & think. We're so darn focused on money, that the moment we finished high school, we started running behind it like mad people (including myself).

For a moment, remove money from the entire world. imagine the world as it was in the stone age. what do we have now, that they didn't have? Is competition so vital for human survival? I understand that this is the way of the world & it can't be reveresed now, but we must think about why we're running this rat race, since sooner or later we would all have to face the horrible question on our death bed... "what now"

If we go down this path of asking questions, we would go crazy with all the unknowns? That's why I have chosen two questions & I'm going to ignore all the others that come into my mind until I find answers to them.
