English Girl in Berlin

Île Saint-Louis

Today E and I walked in to Paris and went to Île Saint-Louis and Île de la Cité (the two natural islands in the Seine).

There we saw the Memorial de la Deportation (a symbolic tomb of the 200,000 French who died in Nazi concentration camps). The memorial is studded with thousands of points of light to represent those who died.

We then went to the Cathedrale de Notre-Dame (no hunchback to be seen although there was an ‘Esmeralda’). We then headed to Saint Germain via Square du Vert-Galant and Pont Neuf.

A quick trip to the Magnum Gallery was a bit of a disappointment as is was showing some of the same works we had seen on Saturday at the Grand Palais.

This evening we headed to the area around Oberkampf for dinner at Al Taglio (amazing pizza) and drinks at La Prune Folle, Ave Maria, Cafe Charbon and Aux Folies.
