Prudence At Moonrise.

Before it became the home of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 1909, the familiar verdigris dome on the corner of George Street and Hanover Street was the home of the Edinburgh Life Assurance Company.

It is fitting that the statue surmounting the building represents the embodiment of the ability to govern and discipline oneself by the use of reason - somewhat apropos in light of the current occupants.
