In the spotlight

My working day started with Y7s using torches to set the atmosphere for their ghost walk talks - and they did brilliantly too. And it ended with an impromptu step into the spotlight to do a welcome speech for a performance which was due to be done by my boss. I suppose it is what I do for a living but I think the correct term is 'lumbered'.
