Towers of Thought

Walked home from a thought provoking Landis Lecture by Prof. Lawrence Bank. He would like to see curriculum massively reformed for structural engineers to move toward more sustainable structural design issues. So, instead of training students to design a 600 story luxury apartment, why not design a single family home for <$400 that can withstand 100mph winds? Curriculum would move away from basic physics, chemistry and math to focus on psychology, sociology, and sustainability. The engineering courses would be based in practical design (which you could say is for the 98%)
