Snowdrops Beetham Cumbria

Woke up this morning to the sad news that my home town's most famous son had passed away at 91. Sir Tom Finney arguably one of the worlds greatest football players. I only met him once when I was a spotty teenager when he opened our church's garden party one summer. He was well into his 50's I would guess. He was still up for kick around in the 5 a side football comp and beat the goalie all while wearing his best suit and patent leather shoes. Every one had great respect for him and even though it was a long time before he was not officially knighted most people referred to him as 'Sir Tom'. There must be a great all stars XI in heaven.

Took a spin out and a picnic lunch when the weather dried up to Beetham for a blow and a gander at the naturalised snowdrops in the woods.
