Bird watching on the Ridgeway

A lovely bright morning - and as it was the first sunny day for ages, everyone was out. Our walk was changed from the planned one at Woolhampton gravel pit (too flooded) , to a morning at Cow Down on the Ridgeway. And all the dog owners of Didcot and Newbury were up there walking the dogs, well away frmo the swampy river valleys. in spite of the disturbance, we actually saw some good birds, including 6 Short Eared Owls and fleeting glimpses of grey partridge that were flushed by exuberant spaniels.
The Ridgeway path is an ancient trackway used for driving sheep to London, as it never floods!
