Leica

copy

Produced by a factory in Moscow in 1974. When I looked into it there are a surprising number of Leica copies, including ones made in the UK. It seems very solidly built, weighing in at nearly 700 grams. Like it's SLR sister the Zenit, it's built like a tank, and everything seems to work well.

In one of those opportunities that you always think was a real mistake that you didn't act on it I nearly bought a Leica 111a with original lenses and filters etc (it even had a Leica case) from a shop in Winchester when I was a student. The trouble was, although very reasonably priced the cost was about half my term's grant and I couldn't convince myself it was a good investment
