ADVANCES IN SPORTS NUTRITION

Breaking News: Scientists now claim that eating upside down will improve our physical ability as well as our mental acuity. In theory, the nutrition will go straight to the brain and thereby provide immediate energy for both physical and mental functions. Team Squirrel is taking this information to heart – we’ve found squirrels eating upside down all around Athletes Village. We’ll see whether this breakthrough gives them the boost they’re looking for.

In a bit of sad news today, one of the medals was stolen from the ‘Vault’ behind the Awards Podium. It didn’t take long for Security to nab the thief, seen here leaving the building with the medal in question. Because the picture was taken with a security camera, it is less than clear, but it leaves no doubt that Clyde is their man guy. It seems Clyde’s girlfriend, Bonnie, of Team Chickadee, was devastated to come in fourth in the Ice Dancing Long Program. He believed she deserved to win and couldn’t bear to see her heartbroken, so he took the medal for her. Emotions run high at the Olympics!

With a break in the competition, Reba of Team Woodpecker (Red-bellied Division) was happy to model one of the outfits designed specifically for her team at the Alternative Olympic Games. Having team colors of red, white and black, they tried very hard to replicate the red, white and blue official uniforms of Team USA at the Sochi Olympics. You can see the similarity in this heavily patterned sweater and red cap for the opening ceremony at AOG. Reba’s knit cap appears to be slipping a bit, so it’s difficult to see the stylized ‘WP’ for Team Woodpecker on the front. The heavy yarn of these outfits is sure to keep the woodpeckers toasty during the games.

Tune in tomorrow for another exciting report from AOG!
