the sixth land

By sixthland

drove to my parents in north london for lunch today, and made an unscheduled stop by a park up there to stretch my legs and maybe get a blip or two.

how wonderful it was! just an ordinary park, but i was quite overcome by the feeling of openness and a distant horizon. not a particularly nice day with rain-laden clouds overhead, but there was a pleasant breeze; the air was fresh and clean; there was nobody about and it was good to walk around with grass under my feet instead of concrete.

living in a big city is oppressive sometimes. walking in the park, i realised i'm feeling very hemmed in at the moment by the urbanity of the daily grind.

so this was a simple and unexpected little pleasure and a real tonic.
