Meeting Place

The Ovens River in Victoria and its tributaries carry run-off from the north eastern alpine country from Mount Feathertop across to Mount Speculation. The Ovens River passes through the townships of Harrietville, Bright, Porepunkah and Myrtleford to Wangaratta.

The King River commences near Mount Howitt and heads north through Lake William Hovell to form a confluence with the Ovens River at Wangaratta.

My blip tonight is this very confluence of these two beautiful waterways taken from the bridge only a few hundred metres from the town centre.

A thin eucalypt tree has fallen across the very mouth of The King as it joins The Ovens coming in from the left.

The sandy point is a favourite swimming spot for many locals.
