Tree down!

This steep lane next to the nature reserve had to be closed for most of the morning while this fallen beech tree was dealt with. A very tall oak nearby has also been uprooted and is leaning against two beeches on the bank above the road - lots of work for tree surgeons. Quite a few trees have come down within the reserve, but none are presenting a safety hazard right now. With the recent strong winds and absolutely waterlogged soil (even on the chalk hills!) I think we can expect more to keel over soon.
