Wakefield used to have 4 Chantry chapels and now only has one. This one only survived because it was a structural part of the bridge across the Calder going south.

The stonework was fixed in the 1990's and these new heads replaced eroded 14th century stones. They represent local worthies who supported the restoration and did the work.

The fact that one of them looks like David Cameron is merely a trick of the light!
