Lusangazi Health Post

Today was Clinic day at the new, what used to be called the birthing centre.
This building replaces the thatched stable in the background and is almost complete,
but we are still awaiting the beds.
There seemed to be hundreds of people there today of all shapes sizes and ages, who came to visit the clinician, nurse and student nurses from St John?s Hospital, Mzuzu.
Babies were weighed, measured and cuddled, women sat and talked, old men got tablets and others were inoculated.
Everyone expressed their gratitude for the new building and the hospital people were delighted to be able to serve the large population of Lusangazi for the first time, having started a few months with the start of the construction.
The joy in the faces made an otherwise tough, hot day worthwhile.
