Our Aidos has little aidos

I didn’t worry too much about looking for the word of the day, which was aidos – ‘The ancient Greek concept of shame, modesty, or reverence, esp. as a motivating force. Also (usually with capital initial): a personification or representation of this as a goddess, esp. in sculpture, painting, etc.’ (OED). And the reason I didn’t worry (taking instead some interesting flood shots) was because I knew we had an Aidos in the garden. Once I’d downloaded it and looked at it more carefully, however, it was evident that our Aidos does not have quite as much aidos as I thought! Anyway, it’s a sculpture, it’s Greekish and she is showing some modesty, but from what I can make out beneath the lichen, she’s not feeling much shame at her behaviour!

Day #49of a 365 project, where the daily pic is informed by the OED word of the day.
