Moving House

With my blues lead breaks
still in my head
I take pleasure
from the fact
that musicians I admire
were kind enough to tell
me I played well
last night.

I am keen
to jam
with them again.

If it had not been
for the need
to clear my head
this morning
I would still have been
in bed
and would not have seen
this static caravan travelling
(one that got away?
was washed away?
in those storms
we’ve heard so much about)
nor the long line
of motorists
trailing behind it
in that other sort
of jam.
