New Secondary School

This is Fr John, an Indian Capuchin priest, outside their new secondary school in Lusangazi. This will be the only secondary school in this vast area and will cater for boys and girls in forms 1 to 4. This project, which we are supporting, hopes to take its first pupils on December 7, and I?m sure he?ll have it ready; he?s an amazing man.
We are now visiting the local schools to pick six of the brightest girls from poor families, to support, for the next four years. Secondary schooling is expensive and girls are often left at home, (carrying water and firewood and becoming mothers while they are only children) while many useless boys are favoured!!! (a hobbyhorse of mine).
Girls who get a chance are more diligent, and achieve, while, as women, they are much more likely to educate families and villages.
