On the edge!

Greenan Castle is a 16th-century tower house, possibly on the site of an ancient fort, around 2.5 miles south-west of Ayr in South Ayrshire, Scotland. The entrance lintel has the inscription, JK 1603 FMD, for John Kennedy of Baltersan and his third wife, Florence MacDowell, who held the lands, Greenan Mill, and salmon fishing rights on the River Doon at that time.

Out with my Third Wednesday girls today. We took the bus to the town of Ayr, and after a coffee and scone stop, walked along the promenade to the pedestrian bridge over the River Doon. We walked along the river and over the golf course to Rozelle Park, and from there to Alloway...... and then back!!! The weather was wonderful, sunny, dry and very mild, and we walked without jackets most of the time. Had a lunch stop at the Burns Monument at Alloway, and then headed back the way we came. Realised that we might catch the bus at 3pm rather than the 4.30pm one, and so we route marched the last couple of miles and just made it!!!

We had a lovely day out, we are fortunate that we all get on so well. There were twenty seven of us in all, and the bus driver had a laugh at us!!! We are so noisy!!!!

Hope you all had such a good day!
