#19 Raveled Rapples

DDW February Challenge #19 Raveled Rapples

From the dictionary of archaic and provincial words:
Rapple (n.) a raveled thread
Raveled (adj.) mixed together

Our littlest cat, Lainai, is posing today next to my spinning wheel and raveled rapples of recycled multicolor sari silk fiber. This fiber can be spun alone or raveled with other fibers, such as wool. The rapples in this picture are from recycled saris and mill ends from sari factories in Nepal. Purchase of this product helps support a women's cooperative in India. Lainai is controlling herself mightily; she really wants to get herself tangled in the sari silk, but that is not allowed. :)
