Shipbuilding

Morning in Manchester, afternoon on the Wirral and Knowsley. Between 1829 and 1947, over 1,100 vessels were launched from this Cammell Laird site into the River Mersey. They were still busy after the war including two Ark Royals. Since 1993 they have built just 2 passenger ferries.

Shame, must have been fantastic to see large ships regularly launched into the river. They seem to keep busy with ship repairs & offshore wind turbines, which is cool but rather dull.
