Loud!

Just got back from seeing Courtney Pine in Worcester. He was amazing! He's so into his music, and just loves playing. He apologised at the start, saying he wasn't going to speak much as he preferred playing. No complaints from me - we'd come to hear him play, after all!

Seats in row 3, another part of Mrs BH's Xmas present... Certainly not what we usually see, but was such a vibrant and uplifting experience. And loud, very very loud. A couple of times he apologised for the ear-piercing pitch of the notes he played...

But what technique - circular breathing, amazing finger-speed, brilliant improvisations dropping in phrases from musicals, pop tunes, hymns, all sorts. And supported by an incredibly talented band too, who seemed to thrive on playing together and with Courtney.

A very enjoyable evening indeed!
