Team Hamster Wows 'Em At AOG

A cute but confused competitor in the Alternative Olympic Games showed up today at Pacific Northwest Stadium to compete in the Rhythmic Gymnastics - Individual Balloon event. Nobody wanted to tell him that gymnastics is a summer event not a winter one. He was just too darn cute to disappoint, so the judges watched his routine, which they actually found to be exceptionally good. So good in fact that they gave him an “award” which turned out to be the cap from a bottle of fruit juice but it had a star on it as part of the logo so it was quite appropriate. Hermie Hamster was thrilled when the judges told him his appearance today was considered a preview of what’s to come this summer and that it was wonderful of him to show up.

Hermie brought a lot of friends with him, all of whom were interested in competing. The Event Coordinator gently and diplomatically helped them all register for the many summer events among which are the Speed Wheel Run, and the Bedding Fluff and Fling (always a favorite event). The most exciting event is the Habitrail Course which is similar to the human Biathlon in the winter games where the competitors cross-country ski and then stop periodically to shoot at targets. In the summer AOG the hamsters roller skate instead of ski, and use slingshots to lob raisins at the targets. They were thrilled and left with big smiles on their little furry faces vowing to train hard and go for the gold when summer rolls around.

Go Team Hamster!!!
