The Office (and a question)

My office is such a wreck that I think it scares people. Sometimes I don't even know what's in my own space. This creature, hiding behind a plant on top of a bookshelf in my office, is a good example. Apparently it was in my office for months (or so I'm told) before I even noticed it. Truth is, I think it's probably accurate. Some things I notice - some I just don't.

Question: I am in the market for a portable camera, other than my iPhone. Any suggestions? I often feel like I miss out on shots because I don't have my dslr with me all the time. The iPhone isn't cutting it. Thanks in advance!
