Too Early for Swiss Butterflies!

Look at her lovely downy body in large!

I had never been to Follateres near Martigny before. It is the place where all the local naturalists go to see the fields of purple Spring Bulbocodium which are similar to crocuses but are in the Lily family, apparently. They come up as soon as the snow melts. But for me the true sign of Spring was this newly hatched Small Tortoiseshell (Aglais urticae L.) which flew past and landed on a warm rock to have her photo taken. I hope she finds shelter as snow is supposed to fall to around 600m tonight!
