Spring flowers and ancient stones.

This afternoon we made a point of stopping off at Kincardine in Menteith church (near the Blair Drummond Safari park) and crossing over to the old graveyard. The snowdrops were a blinding carpet of white in some areas and the daffodils are well up through and will probably be out in the next week or two.
There are two ancient roofless buildings which seem far too small to have been the original church but who knows. Many of the headstones are very old indeed and worn quite smooth. The earliest inscription I spotted was for 1806 but there will certainly be some far older stones. Despite the cold wind and slight drizzle, it was a peaceful place, set back from the main road and up a somewhat muddy track.
We got a phone call from Ali this morning to let us know that little Eve has the chicken-pox. MaggieD gave her a bath last night and saw no sign of spots but she was a little bit clingy so perhaps that is the reason. I bet Euan will be next but at least that will get it over and done before he goes to nursery!
