Celebrating life

Sitting it out

The tide turns
Sweeps back onto the chalk settlements
And the sand
Removing the wading edge and the rocky pools.
Redshanks and turnstones
Sit it out on a groyne
But the sea threatens to take even that away from them.

I've pored over my bird books and think these waders spotted on our walk from Westgate to Margate are redshanks - Tringa totanus - in from Iceland (please, someone, correct me if I'm wrong!). Also saw oyster catchers, turnstones, Brent geese in from Siberia, herring gulls and black-headed gulls.

Glad I caught the redshank coming into land and like the one legged poses. Very chill.

Sorry no time to catch up with everyone today.
