365: Twite

I often visit Portobello beach with my little dog, Margaret, and see these plump little brown birds flying around in small flocks. It took me a while before I identified them as Twite.

The RSPB have given this bird a red status meaning they are seen as a threatened species with ever-declining numbers. Some may say that they are just little brown birds but, to me, they are beautiful with very subtle markings and colourations that make them unique. Let's make sure we do everything we can to protect these little gems.
